What Is Cyber Essentials Certification?
Cyber Essentials checks that an organisation has five technical controls in place: firewalls, secure configuration, security update management, user access control and malware protection. Together, these stop most everyday internet-based attacks.
You answer a self-assessment questionnaire covering the devices, software, cloud services and networks in scope, and a Certification Body verifies it. Certification lasts 12 months. Many organisations need it to win contracts, including some government work, and it is a recognised first step in proving your security to customers.
